TEHRAN- Iran has signed 20 memorandums of understanding with some renowned international companies on cooperation in the mining projects after the nuclear deal in January which lifted the sanctions against the country, according to an official in Iranian mining sector.

Amir Khorramishad, the deputy head of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), said that the follow-up measures to implement the mentioned MOUs are currently being taken, IRNA reported on Wednesday.
The West-led sanctions against the country and lack of finance had made implementation of some IMIDRO’s projects facing over 13 years of delay.
Mehdi Karbasian, the head of IMIDRO, announced in July that 34 mining and mineral industries projects will become operational in the country by his organization by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2017).
He put the worth of investment to complete the mentioned projects at $7.2 billion.
